In 2014 Energy Alton won an award from the National Energy Foundation (NEF), which included 6 days’ free consultancy from NEF. We used this to develop a spreadsheet model of the town’s energy consumption. The model is based on information on housing and commercial properties in the public domain, supplemented by a survey by volunteers of commercial premises that were not identified by the original search.
We are planning to use the model to develop a local energy strategy in partnership with Local Authorities and significant energy users, with the aim of a long term reduction in energy bills and CO2 emissions.
