Veolia consultation on the Advanced Energy Recovery Facility

Veolia have recently consulted the public on a proposed incinerator for commercial and industrial waste on its A31 site, currently a materials sorting facility. Energy Alton submitted a response to the consultation which you can download above.

In principle, Energy Alton supports the advance of renewable energy production including the use of combined heat and power sources of energy, such as the incineration of waste that produces electricity as a by-product. But our support has to be conditional on a detailed assessment of the economic and environmental pros and cons, especially in the case of a very large infrastructure. In this case, we do not have have all the facts to come to an informed view. Based on the public exhibition and information on the website, there are many questions to be answered before we can make a decision on whether we could support this facility.
