The Whole House Retrofit Service is a partnership between the National Energy Foundation (NEF) and two community based climate action organisations, in Winchester (WinACC) and Petersfield (PeCAN). The service offers householders a thorough and detailed plan, following a detailed assessment by a qualified Retrofit Co-ordinator to an accredited standard, for energy saving improvements that can be carried out in stages over a number of years.
NEF and PeCAN are inviting homeowners from Alton and the surrounding villages to join the Retrofit Service. If you are interested in finding out more, please email superhomes@Petersfieldcan.org .
As a homeowner, you can benefit from an independent, impartial assessment of your home which takes into consideration your individual needs, and provides bespoke recommendations through a detailed plan. This is called the ‘Whole House Retrofit Plan’ and its aim is to improve the comfort, health and energy efficiency of your home by guiding you through a series of retrofit measures.
A redacted sample ‘Whole House Retrofit Plan’ of the type provided to customers by the service can be downloaded here:
The highlighted sections are what the Retrofit Coordinator completes to provide a home bespoke narrative of the retrofit potential.
The Whole House Retrofit Plan is a Medium Term Improvement Plan to BSI PAS2035 “Retrofitting dwellings for improved energy efficiency” – Government endorsed approach. It is produced by an accredited ‘Retrofit Coordinator’ (Level 5 Diploma), offering a retrofit blueprint towards net zero by 2050:
•Risk assessment •Options appraisal •Benefits and impacts (energy modelling – emissions, running costs etc) •Phasing plan of work •Cost effectiveness assessment and more
NB Energy Alton will continue to offer its free home energy surveys, undertaken by experienced volunteers, all year round, and thermal imaging surveys in the winter. The Whole House Retrofit Plan is a much more detailed assessment.
