Energy Alton now a registered charity

Energy Alton have until now been registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC).

CICs are limited companies which operate to provide a benefit to the community they serve.  The purpose of a CIC is primarily one of community benefit rather than private profit. This has however provided some limitation to the work we have been engaged in.

We have therefore been working towards becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). A CIO is an incorporated structure designed for charities. Registered with the charity commission, it enables organisations to work more as a charity and less as a limited company.

We can now announce that Energy Alton has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1212185.
