Clean Heat Alton Project – Call for volunteer householders

Through this project, Energy Alton will investigate clean heat alternatives to gas, oil and other fossil fuelled heating of homes in Alton and share the results with homeowners. Experienced volunteers from Energy Alton will survey a cross section of five homes in Alton. A local energy consultancy will analyse and assess the clean heat options for that particular house and produce a report tailored to each home situation that will spell out the alternatives including costs, practicality and carbon saving. The report will also explain the other measures that are necessary or desirable to go alongside a new heating system such as additional insulation.

Once all the surveys are completed, we will pool the results to produce a generic guide for home owners thinking about moving away from gas or oil -fired heating with an explanation of the alternatives, costs, practical issues, carbon saving and where to find installers. This guide will be published for wide circulation in the Alton area.

Funding has been secured from Alton Town Council and Community Energy South.

If you have recently thought about replacing your gas or oil -fired boiler and live in Alton then do apply. The application form can be found here

It explains the kind of homes that we want to include and the process. We can only accept five homes for the study, but we would like lots of applications to ensure that we get a good cross section across the town. The closing date for applications is 1 December.
